Is The Doctor In?
IS THE DOCTOR IN?
It's not a difficult task to find the best doctor in the world for you. Just look within. Since the time you began as a ferti- lized egg your own individual innate or inborn intelligence has been there to guide a miraculous series of events that trans- formed your duplicating mass of cells into the complexity of your human body.
The first thing that starts to differentiate in this mass of cells is what will become the central nervous system. Then other cells differentiate to form the rest of all your tissues & organs comprising your body's functional systems. Does someone program the information in that guides development? Does the embryo consult anatomy and physiological texts to know what to do next or what goes where, or what connects with what? No. Your innate intelligence guides all of these extremely complex and phenomenal processes.
It's important to understand that this intelligence that created you did not leave when you were born. It stays on the job direct- ing and controlling all of your life functions and healing capa- bilities until you die. It's your personal, full-time resident doctor. And the best thing is that it knows more about how you should work and what's best for you at any particular time than any person can from the outside because it created you.
Your body is not programmed to deteriorate into chronic diseases although it seems the pharmaceutical advertisers would like us to believe it is normal. Your innate intelligence's responsibility is to continually strive to regenerate itself and maintain function
at the highest potential delineated by your genes until your genetic clock runs out. I use the term regenerate because scien- tists now say that 98% of the atoms that comprise the human body are new every 9-12 months.
Good news! You have a new, potentially healthy body every year. Bad news - if you don't take responsibility and care for it properly then it will break down and degenerate leading to chronic
disease processes and an unhealthy life.
Health and healing do not come from a bottle of pills or a sur- geon's knife, but from the full expression of your innate intel-
iligence within. This intelligence sends messages over your nerv- ous system linking the intelligence to the physical body animat- ing your cells, tissues, and organ systems allowing your "life" to express to it's full genetic potential.
Chiropractors call this flow of information "lifeforce". It's not that you either have it or you don't. It can exist in varying degrees so that the quality of life & health that you experience is a direct reflection of the quality of the expression of your innate intelligence in your body. What interferes with this expression is what chiropractors call subluxations. These are spinal misalignments, abnormal postural relationships, etc. that interfere with the proper transmission of nerve impulses from the brain to the body. They interfere with your internal doctor's communication system preventing it from doing it's job appropri- ately.
Other cofactors that influence your innate intelligence's ability to manifest health are things like adequate nutrition, proper exercise, healthy relationships, ability to manage stress, elimi- nation of toxic substances, a sense of a higher being or spiritu- ality, etc. Who you are at any point in time is a reflection of the choices and actions regarding these cofactors since the time you were born. And since the body and who you are as a human being is a dynamic, constantly changing system, you have the opportunity to take control and guide who you will be in the future; the same, healthier, or less healthy. This is dependent on how well you reduce the interference to your innate inte- lligence's ability to express itself and how you configure the cofactors in support of it.
A true "health" care system is focused on proactive, preventative measures by the individual to reinforce and remove interference to the body's innate ability to express it's full potential. Unfortunately, the classical allopathic or medical model is focused on symptoms and disease. It is a reactive system based on diagnosis of a disease or dysfunction within the body. It doesn't necessarily work with the natural processes of the body but works through someone outside of you taking control through the application of pharmaceutical or surgical proceedures de- signed to override that system of the body that is determined to be out of balance.
As an emergency care system, the present medical model serves us well. The World Health Organization's Health 2000 report ranked the
United States 1st in the world among 190 other nations in emergency
care. On the other hand, the U.S. ranked 72nd in wellness care. Our
reliance on this model for general health care has obviously not pro-
vided for a healthy nation.
In addition, recent medical studies provided information that now ranks the practice of medicine as the third or fourth leading cause of preventable death in the U.S. behind heart disease and cancer. Why are we still so obsessed with trying to cure disease rather than trying to research how to prevent it? What are we supporting when we run/walk for the "cure"? We need to change
our focus to the safer, less invasive holistic model of health for general wellness, stimulating the body's natural resources to build health within itself.
Chiropractic is the largest non-drug health care system in the world. Subluxation-based chiropractors' focus is to eliminate the interference to the nervous system allowing your far superior innate intelligence to regain control of the body it built. We do not heal anything. We correct subluxations allowing your innate
doctor within it's greatest capability to heal your body safely and naturally without dangerous drugs or surgery.
Is the doctor in? The "doctor" is always "in" you. The question is whether this internal doctor is free of interference allowing full genetic expression to regulate health and healing capabili- ties manifesting a high quality of life.
